MOCA Heritage Building Tote Bag
A recycled-polyester tote featuring Nars' red line drawing of MOCA's 1875 heritage building in Haymarket.
Full description
This tote features a line drawing of MOCA's home at 744 George Street, Haymarket, created by Nars of PICT137URES Studio. Printed in MOCA red, the drawing traces the building's arched windows, sandstone facade and roofline. The MOCA wordmark appears below the drawing, while the reverse carries the museum's bilingual identity.
The building was designed by Mansfield Bros and completed in 1875 as a bank. The three-storey Victorian sandstone building later served as Haymarket Library and is listed as a local heritage item. It is now home to the Museum of Chinese in Australia.
Each bag is made from 90% recycled polyester and 10% polyester, using recycled material equivalent to 12 plastic bottles.
Every purchase supports MOCA's exhibitions, programs and community work.
Design
Nars is the designer behind PICT137URES Studio and a regular MOCA design collaborator. For this tote, he translated the museum's heritage facade into a fine line drawing that retains its arched windows, carved stonework and distinctive roofline.
